    • Hi Linda,

What yarn are you going to be using? I don’t know that you need to change it at all actually. It is designed to fit snuggly on the ears, but with a 2 yr old you probably would want a looser fit. It calls for a super bulky yarn, so it you use anything lighter it will turn out smaller, but even with the yarn as called for I think it would be okay!

    • Also, just wanted to add that if you do want to adjust the pattern you can easily just add or subtract the amount of sts you cast on – as long as you cast on an even number of sts, it won’t affect the pattern 🙂

      • I am using 2 strands of bulky yarn. It is sensations beautiful and I am making my granddaughter a scarf but thought the band in one of the colors would be cute. I will just give it a try. Thanks

  1. Hey

I just wanted to know if Red Heart yarn was ok to use and if there is anything different I would do since it is a different kind of yarn.

      • I hope i’m reading it right sorry i’m a 1st time knitter lol but i think it is 7oz (198g)

I attempted just to knit using my circular needles just to see is I could get the hang of it using the same size needles you said to use but I doubled the amount of casted on stitches to 80 and OMG it was way to big lol it didnt stay on my head. I didnt follow a patten i just kept kitting lol so I mean it looks funny but at least I know I am capable of doing it. I just dont know how many stitiches to cast on. and I’m thinking because its a very light and thin yarn I should be using shorter circular needles.

        please help lol

        • Does the yarn have a weight # on it? I would take a look at the headband and try to figure out how many stitched less you would need to cast on for it to fit (like with your hand pull the excess knitting and count how many stitches that is to figure out how many less you need to do). It it’s a light yarn you might want to use a smaller size circular needle, but the length of the circular needle would be the same.
